About:

Cathy was born in Manchester and trained at The City and Guilds of London School of Art and The Royal Academy Schools where she received several awards. She works from her studio in Bristol.

Her work is informed by her rigorous training in observational painting and drawing and she exploits this skill in her paintings in a lyrical, expressive way. This is evident in her recent whimsical, colourful still life paintings, depicting robots and plastic toys and in her delicate flower studies in egg tempera.

With a wide interest in and knowledge of art history she is influenced by the themes and techniques of figurative egg tempera artists such as Ben Shan, Bernard Perlin and George Tooker.

Cathy’s paintings are in many private collections both here and in America. She was selected in 2022 for the RWA, the ING Discerning Eye and for the 2023 Royal Academy Summer exhibition. Green and Stone Gallery Chelsea have selected White Flowers for their summer show 2023 and 2 works were selected by Tony Adams for the ING 2023 show. In 2024 Cathy was selected for the Royal Watercolour Society Open and the New English Art Club Annual Exhibition.
